Has a Life Change Turned You Into a Procrastepreneur?
Here are 3 easy ways to get your business back on track!

It’s easy to let procrastination kill your business efforts when something life-changing happens to you. A pregnancy, death, promotion, bad illness, new home or messy divorce are just a few examples of life’s little curve balls. They can easily throw you and your business right off track! But don’t beat yourself for it, because you’re not alone.

In my case, I started a while back. Like many others, I sought the comfort of a steady paycheck while we ride out this stormy economy. Admittedly, it does take sometime to get used to a new schedule but great reasons become poor excuses when you finally get a handle on the change. Did I ride out my new job excuse a little longer than I should have? Absolutely! Are you holding on too? Well enough is enough. There’s money to made and procrastination is stealing it away!

It’s time to get back in the drivers seat, so what do you do?

Forgive Yourself
This is first and most important. The shouda, coulda woulda thoughts will drive you crazy and cause you to spiral further out of control. It happened okay? So let it go and start moving forward. Blaming yourself only will prolong your new start and rob you blind. Look at the positive side of things. You want to get back on track and you are starting to pick up where you left off. That’s a good sign right? Of course it is! That’s why the next point is so critical.

Evaluate Your New schedule
Once you’ve forgiven yourself, it is import to analyze your new schedule. What has changed about it? Where can you realistically dedicate time to building your business? Find the inefficiencies and figure out how you can make better use of your available time. That’s what PVRs are for. Whether its a few hours a week or only 15 minutes a day…it’s a start! As long as you plan exactly what you will be doing with your time and cut out all non-business related distractions while you’re working you’ll make progress. Re-Assess your goals and timelines
Your previous goals may have lined up perfectly with your old schedule. But now, maybe not so much. I want you to know it’s okay to re-jig your timeline, extend your dates or delay. It’s better to have measurable, achievable and realistic goals than lofty unattainable ones that set you up for further delay or complete failure. Before I started my job I was planning to post once or twice every single day. But according to my new schedule, writing two or three QUALITY posts a week and the engaging in the necessary social media activity to grow my readership seems like a manageable challenge.

How badly do you want this to work? This is the question you should be asking yourself. My guess is… you still dream about how successful your business could be every single day and you just can’t let it go. So don’t give yourself another excuse to extend you procrastination. You can do this.
