According to Cher, geek is chic! This self-proclaimed “cool geek” has the love of technology hard wired into her personality. She spends way more time on the Internet then she cares to admit; connecting on Facebook, Linked In and Twitter; reading the latest tech news, white papers and reviews; discovering cool blogs and websites and trying out new apps and software in the clouds.
Cher is also an accomplished professional communicator with over 13 years of experience. In her current position as Senior Coordinator, Publicity and Communications for the City of Toronto, she manages a large portfolio of internal clients who rely on her for communications planning, social media training/strategy, web development, event planning, public relations, issues management, writing and editing. Cher has also worked for leading Canadian companies like Hydro One, Bell Canada, ING Direct, CTV and Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment (MLSE).
As an entrepreneur, she provides freelance communications, consulting, and training services to entrepreneurs, marketing companies, publishers, non-profits and small-med enterprises in a wide range of industries and is currently working on the launch of her brand new company Socially Active.
Cher spends her spare time as a volunteer youth group leader (five years and counting), regularly appears on the CBC show Steven and Chris testing wacky as seen on TV products and makes technology simple to understand on a Rogers’ TV show called Tech E.R.
